Accuracy is the foundation of our work. When we make a mistake, we correct it quickly, openly and without defensiveness.
Our Commitment
- We correct significant errors of fact as soon as we confirm them.
- We tell readers what was wrong and what changed. We do not quietly rewrite the record.
- We treat every correction request seriously, no matter who sends it.
How to Report an Error
Email [YOUR EMAIL] with the subject line "Correction", or use the Contact Us page. Please include:
- The link to the post.
- The specific sentence or detail you believe is wrong.
- What you think is correct, with a reliable source or document if possible.
What We Do After a Report
- Review: we acknowledge the request, usually within 2 working days, and recheck the claim against original sources.
- Decide: if the error is confirmed, we correct it. If we find the original was accurate, we will say so.
- Fix and note: the post is corrected and, for significant changes, a clear note is added.
Types of Corrections
- Minor corrections: typos, spelling, formatting or small factual slips that do not change the meaning of the story are fixed directly.
- Substantive corrections: errors affecting names, numbers, dates, quotes, attribution, or the meaning or fairness of a story are fixed and flagged with a note at the top or bottom of the post, for example: "Correction (date): An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated X. It has been corrected to Y."
- Major errors: if a story is fundamentally wrong or cannot be verified, we may add a prominent editor's note, replace the story, or in rare cases remove it with a public explanation.
Updates Are Not Always Corrections
For developing stories, new information is added as it becomes available and the post is marked as updated. An update is not an admission of error, because facts can change as events unfold. If an earlier version was wrong, we will say so.
Images, Headlines and Social Posts
Mistakes in captions, headlines, images and our social media posts are treated the same way as errors in the article text.
What We Do Not Change
We do not alter a story simply because someone disagrees with its conclusions, dislikes its tone or prefers different coverage. Opinions and analysis are open to debate through the right channels, but corrections are for factual errors. Requests to remove accurate reporting are considered case by case.
